Dyestuffs Manufacture of dyestuff compositions for natural and synthetic fibres.

Sulfolane has found application as an intensifier for increasing the colourfastness of dispersed dyes applied to hydrophobic synthetic fibres. Compositions consisting of concentrated solutions of basic dyes in aqueous Sulfolane are useful for dyeing acrylic fibres.

Sulfolane is a component of aqueous compositions containing dyes which have good storage stability and are useful for dyeing or printing fabrics with a high colour build-up. It has also been found useful in printing pastes for textiles; the use of ~18% of the compound in gum-thickened aqueous dye pastes imparts greater depth and brightness of colour in the print dyeing of cotton, rayon, silk, wool and nylon.
